Meet Mizar - The Last Duelist You Will Ever Face!

Tachyon is the deck-type played by the character of Mizar , one of the seven Barian Emperors and an antagonist in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime. Its roots go back to the Infinite Ray Main Box released in the early ZEXAL era, however it would not begin to resemble a deck of its own until the release of the Tachyon of Galaxy Mini Box. In the context of Duel Links, “Tachyon” is still not an archetype proper as Mizar , like many characters in ZEXAL, used a deck of various cards with some shared themes rather than a conventional archetype. In this case, those themes were Level 4/8 LIGHT or DARK Dragons with the goal of swarming the board with bodies to summon Rank 4, but mainly Rank 8 Xyz Monsters, primarily his ace card Loading... . To have been considered a ‘Tachyon' card (or at least an honorary one) for the purposes of this article is to have voicelines with Mizar referring to it.

Representing one of the game’s few ventures into an undisputed Tier 0 Format in early 2024, to the shock of the majority of the playerbase, Tachyon and the format it heralded have gained a position of infamy in the community.

Our final note is that this article was a collaboration between 7 Barian Emperors:

The Skill - Tachyon Dragon Domination

Ah yes, everyone’s favorite part about Duel Links, the SKILL!!!!!!

This skill does a couple of things, but to sum it up:

  1. It has Summon restrictions as most Skills do nowadays
  2. It allows you to search a Level 4 or 8 LIGHT Dragon by Special Summoning a Level 8 Dragon with its effects negated
  3. It lets you Set either a Tachyon Transmigration from your Deck or a Rank-Up-Magic Barian’s Force from outside your Deck, with either being activatable the turn they were Set, provided that you control Loading... Searchable Omni-negate is a very busted effect to have as it lead to 2 Tier 0 formats, however, it's not nearly as problematic nowadays as you can just MST it. This does however cause a “draw the out” situation, but is better than not being able to out the counter trap at all.
