Notes & Combos

Finally, a true control deck that isn't kneecapped by Konami on release (Altergeist still don't have Protocol btw and their best skill is... Spellcaster Exchange? Come on).

Anyways, if you don't brick, the skill is crazy going 2nd. Getting a free Umastrix or Ultramafus on the field + 1 draw + active protection from Final Battle is enough to break any field and it also helps setting up a stronger interruption in the opponent's next turn. Going 1st, getting a draw or Hidden City/Final Battle is still very good, but it might not be enough without opening at least another non-engine card, so that's why I'm playing 5 of them.

I'm playing Ultramafus mainly because of Lyrilusc, but to be honest it's pretty good in general and I like having a 2nd Behemoth in the deck in case I draw the other one. 2 copies of Fiendess because the 3rd one rarely comes up and I'd rather have more non-engine cards. Speaking of, Book of Moon is okay but I would probably replace it with Dogmatika Punishment if I had it alongside N'tss; I would also experiment with Sol and Luna but I don't have that one either. Terrors is just a good trap in general, and Needle Ceiling wins you the game most of the times (also I don't own a 3rd Hidden City, at least not yet).

Since I'm not playing Punishment, the Extra Deck doesn't matter at all. I only summoned Behemoth Fiendess once, and nothing else ever came up.

Here are some relevant rulings:

  • you can't summon more than 1 Behemoth at the same time with their hand effect;
  • the Behemoths can't summon themselves from hand when using Final Battle to flip your own monster, because they will miss the timing (the last action to happen is Final Battle flipping itself face-down, not the monster);
  • if you chain Fiendess to negate an effect activated as Chain Link 1, the Behemoths CAN summon themselves from hand on resolution, since the last action is your monster getting flipped face-down. If Fiendess is CL3 or higher, this will not work;
  • if you use Fiendess on-field effect to flip herself and summon a Subterror from hand/GY face-down, on resolution you will be able to summon a Behemoth from the hand with its effect;
  • Final Battle doesn't protect against effects that negate activations;
  • the activated effect of a negated monster will still resolve if it's flipped face-down on resolution;
  • you can activate Final Battle and then chain Guru to flip an opponent's monster face-down.
