From the ashes of the banlist, the fire and ice dragons arise! For how new this Rush deck is, it was brutally impacted by the banlist.

Blamed for the sins of the regular Rush Dragon deck, Clear Ice Dragon was limited to 3 alongside Piercing Dragon Bunker Strike and Sportsdragon Pitcher (two cards we do not play), making a total of 5 somewhat core dragon cards limited to 3. Cuts had to be made to make the deck playable, and, with a heavy heart, I cut Multistrike Dragon Dragias. I also ditched a copy Phoenix Dragon and Seahorse Carrier as well as trading in my third Clear Ice Dragon for a third Burning Blaze Dragon.

These changes left me with 3 empty slots, so my first instinct was to fit a tiny Red-Eyes package. After a lot of games and play testing, I’m happy to report that I believe this is the best version. Black Dragon’s Chick is cool when you have Red-Eyes in hand and draw too many back-row cards or defense you don’t want to tribute. I experimented with The Barriers and Piercings! as well, but the deck really needs one more big guy to fill the hole left by Dragias’ absence. There’s a reason he’s limited to 3, no one closes games more furiously and frustratingly than the legendary Multistrike Dragon.

Without Dragias, the deck feels significantly more resource and control based. While its general power level has been lowered, I do not think this baby is dead by any means! Ancient Arise Dragon still has a super unique and powerful effect to shuffle back a fire and ice dragon in order to destroy a monster with 1500 or less Defense. This effect as well as Clear Ice Dragon’s is the life blood of the deck. Because of the number of 2 tribute monsters and the power of the meta game, Musical Princess’s Recital really shines in this deck. I feel like my end board nine times out of ten is a huge boy, Recital, Widespread Ruin (which is still mandatory and crazy), and a Ghost Cyclone for next turn.

Overall, this deck does well going 1st or 2nd. I never feel like a sitting duck most of the time, something very different from this game’s extreme back and forth. For more information, please consult my last write up. Thank you for reading and, Konami, please limit Dragias to 1 so I can play him again. I hope you have a great day, and Heart of the Cards be with you!
