Notes & Combos

Gone are the days of Cat Dancer OTKs, and in are the days of unlimited Lunalight Tiger and the link spam that it enables.

After lots of time on the version that includes Polymerization, Lunalight Fusion, and Emerald Bird, I decided to try out ラー's decklist. This is that same decklist, but with -1 Black Sheep and -1 Buffalo for +2 Kiteroid. Kiteroid is still such a strong tech going first and is oftentimes the only way that this deck can survive going first against common going second tools like Dark Hole and Forbidden Chalice onto Evilswarm Nightmare. You can frequently go through your entire extra deck and break your opponent's board in the process if you survive to turn 3.

The deck is probably also better at going second than the fusion spell version - the primary downside is that our only method of summoning out Leo Dancer (Wolf) is susceptible to quick effect spell/trap removal and graveyard disruption (cosmic, MST, DD Crow, etc.) and in some circumstances cannot be accessed (we have to draw it, dump it and add back with Black Sheep, or dump it and summon it to bounce back to hand with Yellow Marten). Fortunately, we can often win without Leo Dancer by breaking boards with Tiger King, Unicorn, and Rasterliger.

Going first boards look like:

  • Evilswarm Nightmare + Kiteroid in hand
  • Evilswarm Nightmare + Fire Fist link 2 + Fire Fist Buffalo + Lunalight Sabre or Leo Dancer, especially if we don't have Kiteroid

Going second plays include:

  • Skill to dump Kaleido Chick, dump something, normal summon White Rabbit, set scale(s), bounce up to four spells/traps
  • Fire Fist - Tiger King to negate their board, Fire Fist link 2 to dump and summon buffalo, Unicorn to shuffle, Rasterliger to pop one and swing with 4200 attack
  • Wolf effect to summon Leo Dancer for game (banish Kaleido Chick for the summon whenever possible to prevent battle phase counterplay)
