Notes & Combos
Konami somehow manages to make the meta worse every season. That said, I’d still rather face Heroes than Predaplants or Birds.
This season I didn't felt like playing much and I also waited for the banlist freeing Gold Sarc so I got KoG a bit later.
Some tips:
-
You can remove Dragonduo and 1x Awakening Dragon to play with a few tech cards like Droplet.
-
Going second against Heroes is generally a win. The key is baiting Veiler with your starter and then exploiting the fact that you can’t respond to Skills to summon Necro and immediately synchro into Black Rose Dragon to nuke their board (check the replays for an example). This play caught most opponents off guard, and I won about 10 duels with it.
-
Levianeer's destruction is also strong against heroes. If your opponent chains Super Polymerization, you can still clear the summoned monster afterward. If they don’t, you can destroy super poly for free.
-
I’m still debating whether Aloof is better than Solar but Aloof seemed to improve consistency, especially in bricky hands (starting with a Thunder Dragon). It also helps you set up three Dark monsters on Turn 1 for Levianeer’s hand rip effect. I never ran into situations where I didn’t have a Light monster to activate Levianeer’s pop effect.
-
Draco Berserker is better than Cyber Slash, but I almost never Synchro into Level 8 monsters unless I bricked. I ended up choosing Cyber Slash because she’s a Wind attribute, which allows you to summon Bulb and possibly extend your plays.
