Notes & Combos
Dragonic Contact is an astoundingly powerful skill in its current state that takes full advantage of an astoundingly powerful card pool of Hero and Neos cards. I don't think Neos is tier 0 or anything- other meta decks like Lyrilusc and Shaddolls definitely have the tools to defend against the onslaught Heroes produces and potentially outlast it in the grind game- but unlike those decks, I don't think Heroes has any particularly bad matchups and feels equally strong both going first and second.
Some interactions that stood out to me during my ladder climb:
- The ability to put a face down Elemental Hero Neos with the skill and immediately use Super Polymerization invalidates a lot of powerful boss monsters like Invoked Mechaba or Dragonmaid Sheou that could otherwise negate your plays. This is probably the single most "broken" thing the deck does and is comparable with how the unreactable Predaplant Hydra tribute trivializes these same kinds of powerful monster threats.
- This deck likes to discard cards, both for Super Poly/Armed Dragon effect costs and when drawing off of Liquid's effect, and Cross Keeper is always a phenomenal discard fodder since you just end up drawing more cards as soon as you fuse into another extra deck monster.
- Winged Kuriboh is another great discard fodder. Draw only Liquid and Stratos in your opening hand? No problem, just normal summon Stratos, add Kuriboh, send Stratos to GY to use the skill, then fuse off Liquid + Kuriboh to make Sunrise. Kuriboh can special summon itself by banishing whatever fusion you make with the Miracle Fusion you get from Sunrise and it keeps coming back from the GY every single turn as long as you have fusions in the GY to banish for its special summon cost.
- Rainbow Neos is situationally really powerful, but I honestly got more use out of Armed Neos because the monster wipe effect it has happens right when it gets summoned instead of leaving a window for it to get removed like with Rainbow. That being said, Rainbow Neos has a lot of situational utility like mass removing face down monsters or potentially threatening lethal in the mirror off a single monster so you aren't left open to Super Poly.
My decklist was originally running more techs and less lv 4 Heroes but I kept bricking during my Legend 5 winstreak climb so I cut out some Drolls I was using and stuck in another Liquid and a Solid Soldier. Doing so didn't seem to hurt the deck at all and I still drew into my techs quite a bit.
